Two of Elementa’s projects shortlisted for CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2015

The projects shortlisted at the CIBSE Building Performance Awards recognise the people, products and projects that demonstrate engineering excellence in the built environment. Elementa are delighted to announce that two of our projects have been selected as shortlisted finalists for these prestigious awards.

The University of Nottingham Orchard Hotel has been shortlisted for the New Build Project of the Year (value over £10m) which recognises new buildings that most effectively demonstrates the achievement of high levels of user satisfaction and comfort and delivers outstanding measured building performance, energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions. The University of Nottingham proudly displays many of these attributes in abundance including a BREEAM Excellent hotel with real sustainable credentials set at brief and fulfilled in the final building. James Hale MRICS Capital Projects Officer, Nottingham University comments “Elementa were involved from the earliest stages of design. They understood our concept of an eco-destination hotel and guarded the environmental aspirations of this building from the start. They helped us deliver a bespoke vision without compromise – on time and within budget. They showed an innovative approach to design and communication, they knew how important it was to win the hearts of minds of all involved to make the building the success it is today”.

61 Lincoln’s Inn Fields has also been shortlisted for CIBSE Building Performance Awards this time in the category of Refurbishment Project of the Year (value over £5m) which recognises the same attributes as the New Build category but within an existing building. This complex project shows an innovative approach to integrating energy efficient services into a complex grade II building whilst maximising commercial use/value of the listed site and ensuring a luxurious development. The key to this inventive scheme was to delicately integrate all the usage requirements into a complicated heritage building and achieve great building performance with extremely high energy efficiency, with has been evidenced post-handover.

Doug Kerr, Managing Director, proudly commented “As a BCO Judge myself I understand only too well the hard work which goes into shortlisting projects am particularly proud Elementa has been recognised by CIBSE’s discerning judges for these prestigious awards which focus on performance and tangible post occupancy analysis”.

The winners will be announced at the official awards dinner at the Grosvenor Hotel in February 2015.
