VanDusen Botanical Garden Visitor Centre: LEED Platinum Certified!

Completed in 2011, the VanDusen Botanical Garden Visitor Centre has officially received LEED Platinum certification. Designed through inspiration from an orchid leaf, the highly sustainable building truly reflects nature, producing enough energy on an annual basis to meet its own requirements. The project is also pursuing the Living Building Challenge –  a certification program that addresses development at seven performance areas: Site, Water, Energy, Health, Materials, Equity, and Beauty.

Designed by Perkins+Will, Integral Group provided mechanical, electrical and energy modelling consulting services to achieve a ‘living building’ with net zero energy that ensures a harmonious balance between the built and natural environment. We are thrilled to have worked with Perkins+Will on this project, and to see it’s sustainable design be recognized through this official certification.
