2015 Pan Am Games Venues
Integral Group provided LEED Fundamental & Enhanced commissioning services for several sports venues as part of the 2015 Pan Am Games. The project was delivered through a Private Public Partnership by Bouygues Building Canada.
Hamilton Soccer Stadium: The 22,500 seat stadium (with expansion capability to 40,000 seats) hosted football (soccer) competition for the 2015 Pan Am Games and then became a permanent home for the Hamilton Tiger Cats. Targeting LEED-NC Silver certification, Hamilton’s Soccer Stadium redeveloped into a state-of-the-art, multi-use sport and entertainment venue with the flexibility to accommodate professional and amateur sports and a range of community, national, and international events.
York University Athletics Stadium: Located at York University in Toronto, the 3,000 fixed seat stadium hosted athletic competitions during the Games. Following the Games, the stadium provided students, faculty, and the community with a much needed recreation, training, and competition facility. The Athletics Stadium targeted LEED-NC Silver certification.
Milton Velodrome: The new 1,500 seat Velodrome hosted the track cycling competition during the Games. It has been designed to meet all of the technical requirements of the Union Cyclist International (UCI) including a 250-metre indoor wooden track. Targeting LEED-NC Silver certification, with expansion capability to 2,500 seats, the Velodrome also includes an infield area that can support other recreational activities such as basketball or volleyball following the Games.
The design and construction of the stadia and velodrome strives to incorporate sustainable development practices such as:
reduced greenhouse gas emissions
waste diversion and recycling
- efficient use of energy, water, and other resources.
