General Services Administration | Department of Transportation Headquarters

The Department of Transportation Headquarters comprises 1.5 million ft² of office space over two buildings designed to accommodate 5,500 employees. The facility, built to meet the agency’s needs well into the 21st century, has a primary and redundant data center totaling over 40,000 ft² in raised floor area.

Integral Group assisted the General Services Administration (GSA) in procuring a single vendor to install the BAS system for both the base building and tenant systems. Interviews were conducted with DOT personnel to determine requirements for the BAS system interface, and RFQ/RFP documents were developed. Integral Group also provided three one-megawatt standby generators to power the data centers and other mission-critical systems through 2 one-megawatt UPS modules. The standby generators provide power to two central chillers and associated cooling towers and pumps. A pre-action sprinkler system within the data center was incorporated into our design. As the commissioning agent, Integral Group was responsible for full MEP system verification and provided design assistance for modifications to the mission-critical systems precipitated by the changes in DOT’s program.
