King’s College London | Weston Education Centre Library


The Weston Education Centre (WEC) consisted of full refurbishment and re-ordering of the existing library facility with the refurbishing of two lecture theatres, nine classrooms, and a boardroom.

The existing library required refurbishing and reorganizing space within the area to create a memorable environment and a more flexible, circulating library and student space.

The project involved the creation of:

  • New main entrance to library facility with associated new inquiries desk and seating/study spaces for 250 students.
  • New library service/help desk
  • Open study areas
  • Dedicated meeting pods
  • Re-configured existing stacks for 1,000 linear meters of book storage.
  • Open study areas, computer rooms, 24/7 study area, graduate study room, training room

As part of the refurbishment works, the team addressed the inherent overheating and acoustic issues experienced by staff and occupants within the library and associated areas.
