IBIS Earls Court Conference Centre
Situated adjacent to the heart of the Earls Court conferencing arena and the largest pillar-free event space in London, the ballroom at the IBIS Earls Court has undergone a dramatic transformation. Originally fitted out in the 70s, the space and associated building services systems have been updated to cope with the demands of multiple event users in today’s modern climate.
In conjunction with a complete aesthetic refurbishment, the ballroom was redesigned to allow its separation into nine independent event zones in place of the original three. This affords the hotel greater efficiencies and economic viability in operation. In conjunction with this significant change to the internal operation of the room, Elementa Consulting worked with Accor to devise a lighting, heating, cooling, and controls strategy that allowed the space to function in the most energy-efficient manner and, where necessary, work independently as one to nine separate zones via a sliding wall system.
This required a complete overhaul of the existing ventilation and a new variable air volume system installed. This worked with specially designed lighting rafts that allowed the spaces to be as versatile as possible when split. The IBIS Earls Court now has an event space that will make it a key destination for meetings, conferencing, and major exhibitions.
