Bungane Mehlomakulu to Speak at AIA Austin Summer Conference

The Austin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects is hosting their 2018 Summer Conference. This educational even will provide attendees with an opportunity to receive up to 16 Continuing Education Units as well as engage with cutting-edge keynote speakers, a design exhibit, and a networking happy hour.

Architects often find the design intent of the enclosure at odds with the building’s overall sustainability or performance goals. In particular, glazed facades intended to provide transparency, daylight and connection, drive up energy consumption, create structural challenges, increase opportunities for occupant discomfort and challenge budgets. This session introduces a collaborative approach that brings architects and their consultants out of traditional silos to explore strategies that benefit both the design intent and performance of facades. 1 LU/HSW
