Ali Nazari to Teach at UBC Energy Modelling Workshop

The University of British Columbia (UBC) Okanagan School of Engineering is hosting an Energy Modelling Workshop (ENGR 485) for fourth year students in the Mechanical Program, taking place on February 9-10, 2019. As an adjunct professor at the UBC, Ali Nazari will be serving as an instructor at this Workshop.

Course Overview:

This workshop is an introduction to underlying concepts, modelling inputs, analysis methods and evaluation of the results for proper Quality Control. It provides a knowledge required for energy model development process with a focus on understanding the impact of various building components such as envelope, lighting, and mechanical systems on overall energy consumption of buildings. Students will complete an energy model using eQUEST energy modelling software to assess the energy performance of a building.

Course Objectives:

  • To learn the fundamental theories behind energy simulation software.
  • To understand the interactions of different building components on buildings’ energy performance.
  • To interpret simulation results for proper Quality Control and troubleshoot errors.
  • To model building performance using eQUEST energy modelling software.
Date(s): February 9, 2019
