John McDonald to Present Case Studies of Documented Zero Net Energy Commercial Buildings in California

Join Pacific Gas & Electric for presentations of case studies of three of the zero net energy commercial buildings included in the recently published report ‘Zero Net Energy Case Study Buildings, Volume 3’. This event will be moderated by Edward Dean, FAIA. Design team members including owners, architects, and engineers will cover the following projects:

• La Escuelita Education Center
• DMV Field Office in Fresno
• J. Craig Venter Institute Laboratory

These three buildings were designed, constructed, and then operated to achieve zero net energy level of performance. The case studies include detailed information on each project along with information on at least one year of measured energy performance for each building. Members of the project teams will describe how project goals were established, how design using an integrated process enabled achievement of the goals, and how post-occupancy data collection was used to confirm achievement of zero net energy performance. Attendees will receive a printed copy of the ZNE case study book which can also be downloaded as a PDF here.  The presentations will start at 6:00 pm with food and beverages available at 5:30 pm.
