Mary On Presents at Sustainable Labs Canada 2019
Sustainable Labs Canada (SLCan) is hosting the 2019 SLCan Sustainable Laboratory Conference at the Beanfield Centre in Toronto, ON on November 18-20, 2019. This Conference will encompass a trade exhibit featuring innovative laboratory products, designs and services in addition to presentations delivered by industry experts. It will also include discussions surrounding challenges inherent to managing and designing laboratories, as well as new and effective approaches to laboratory design.
This year’s theme is “Sustainability and the Science of Well-Being.” Based on this theme, topics will be approached through a WELL and wellness lens and focus on occupant experience. Discussions will centre on concepts of People-First Conditions and Positive-Influence Spaces.
Integral Group is proud to be represented by Associate Mary On as a conference speaker in the following session:
Stream 2a: Safely Retrofitting Existing Laboratory Exhaust Systems for VAV Operation, With Case Study of Simon Fraser University
Wednesday, November 20, 2019 | 11:00am-12:00pm | Room 205B
There is often great energy savings potential associated with retrofitting existing constant volume laboratory exhaust systems in existing laboratories. However, there is always concern that such a retrofit will significantly impact the ongoing science in these existing laboratories. Often these labs are heavily used and any down time comes at an extreme premium. Therefore, there may be reluctance to consider the retrograde even if the energy savings potential is significant. The objective of this presentation is to describe the process involved in the upgrade of an existing CAV exhaust system by implementing a VAV exhaust system into an existing operating laboratory with minimal or no down time within the lab and showcase the energy savings of such upgrade. Two successful projects at Simon Fraser University and University of British Columbia will be used as examples.
