Dave Ramslie | Combating Global Climate Change
Integral Group Principal Dave Ramslie has been recognized by onEarth as one of nine leaders combating global climate change starting with the places they live. Upon realization that more than half of Vancouver’s greenhouse gases were coming out of its buildings, Ramslie took initiative to spearhead the city’s Green Homes Program, which led to the goal to make all new structures carbon neutral (or net zero) by 2020.
Dave explains, “Net zero as a movement within the building community and in cities is picking up steam. I would characterize its growth as something similar to where LEED was ten years ago. I think that the market will quickly accelerate past net zero to net positive, faster than even the transition was to broad market acceptance of LEED.”
The sustainability magazine acknowledged Dave Ramslie and eight others as some of the activists, sustainable developers, energy experts, scientists and mayors who are taking action at home to strike a blow against climate change worldwide. “I am very honored to be named to the list. In truth, no one achieves something like this alone, so I am very fortunate that some of my staff have followed me from the City of Vancouver to Integral Group, where we already have a great team. Our focus now is to accelerate our work in helping cities combat climate change, while also helping to make them more livable and socially just” comments Ramslie.
