Integral Group Awards for Engineering Excellence 2015

We are proud to announce that two of Elementa’s projects have been commended by judges at the “Integral Group Awards for Engineering Excellence”. The schemes were judged at Greenbuild in the USA by a panel of independent experts. This year’s judges were Steve McDowell, BNIM Architects; Guido Petinelli, Petinelli Architects Inc., Brazil and Huston Eubank, Regen Network.

A district-scale masterplan in Istanbul, was submitted by Edward Garrod and Marco Treglia, and was awarded second prize by demonstrating a cost-effective approach to rapid energy, carbon and water demand simulation that can be applied to any EcoDistrict project. The masterplan will create a high-density, transit-oriented development that can sustainably meet demands for new homes, jobs. By creating a resource impact “dashboard” Elementa were able to engage early with the project’s Urban Planners to test the impact of multiple design options and inform their selection.

Our Impressive scheme at The Russell Hotel was awarded an honourable mention by the judges for its approach to forensic refurbishment and restoration. The board submitted by Rob Harris and David Glossop demonstrated how Elementa are innovatively refurbishing this iconic building to modern working standards without unnecessary intervention or cost. Services systems span the whole life of the building and upgrades and replacements have required careful thought, survey and testing.

Doug Kerr said of the commendations “Elementa continue to demonstrate innovative thinking across all their projects – the annual awards are a platform to highlight these achievements. It is hugely rewarding for those members of our UK team who have gone above and beyond for their clients to be recognised not only within Integral Group but also by such esteemed external judges”.
