Integral’s Washington, DC Office Achieves LEED-Gold
Location: Alexandria, VA
LEED Certification: Gold
Situated closely to the nation’s capital, the Integral Group Deep Green Office is nestled in the historic center of Old Town Alexandria and serves as the center of operations for Integral’s East Coast locations. The office, completed in 2010, holds a LEED Gold rating (CI 2009) and uses 43% less lighting energy than a typical US office building of its size. Energy saving strategies were employed in all aspects of the design even after difficulties were encountered during the design process, allowing Integral Group to design a sustainable space beyond the LEED ID+C Certified level.
Energy efficient lighting measures include daylighting and occupancy sensors, which allows for the space to actively and passively maintain low lighting power levels. In addition, each workstation is equipped with occupancy sensing surge protector and LED tasks lights, which provide another dimension of lighting control to occupants. To provide high levels of occupant comfort while reducing energy consumption, a water-cooled VAV AHU serves the entire floor combined with VAV diffusers in private offices with individual controls. Furthermore, used furniture such as tables, cubicles, and storage units were sourced locally, in addition to offices and doors that were salvaged from previous tenant.
This office reflects our passion for energy efficiency and our commitment to creating healthy environments for our staff through sustainable design.
