Stanton Stafford Joins Integral Group


Atlanta, Georgia (February 10, 2015): Integral Group is pleased to introduce Stanton Stafford, the Managing Principal of its new Atlanta Studio. Recognized as a green building and sustainability expert, Stanton brings over 15 years of experience designing, modeling and commissioning mechanical systems for higher education, healthcare, science & technology, government and commercial facilities across the United States. With a goal of maximizing the potential of every building, Stanton’s passion is working with clients from concept-to-implementation-to-optimization to drive value through high performance design and operations solutions.

Nationally, Stanton serves as a Voting Member on three ASHRAE Technical Committees having recently led a subcommittee that rewrote the 2015 ASHRAE Applications Handbook Chapters on Energy Use and Management and Building Energy Monitoring. Locally, Stanton Chairs the Board of Directors of the Lifecycle Building Center of Greater Atlanta, an entrepreneurial, start-up non-profit focused on bulk waste stream diversion through building material salvage and reuse. Stanton also serves on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Chapter of the United States Green Building Council and recently became a Charter Member of the University of Georgia’s Mechanical Engineering Advisory Board. For his contributions to the Southeast’s construction and design industry, Stanton was recognized as a member of ENR Southeast’s Top 20 Under 40, Class of 2015.

A native of Atlanta, Stanton resides in Buckhead with his wife and three children.

About Stanton Stafford In 2015, Stanton joined Integral Group following a four-and-a-half year tenure at a consulting firm in Atlanta, where he was an Associate Partner and the Director of Energy and Sustainability Services (ESS). Mr. Stafford and the ESS team served as the 160-employee firm’s client-facing and in-house educational, conceptual design and modeling resource for LEED, sustainable design and high performance building projects. Stanton led the energy modeling, documentation and submission efforts for 20+ projects that achieved LEED certification and 30+ LEED registered projects in various stages of the certification process. Stanton also served as the firm’s public “face of sustainability” both locally and nationally at speaking engagements, industry events, and through his leadership in national, state and local professional societies and non-profits.

Prior to returning to Atlanta, Stanton enjoyed 10 years living and working in the Washington, DC area. From 2008 to 2010, Stanton served as the sustainable design leader and managed a MEP team focused on healthcare, higher education and district energy projects for the Arlington, VA office of a 300-employee consulting engineering firm. From 2006-2008 (and from 1999-2004), Stanton worked as a mechanical engineer for a Fortune 500 engineering firm in Arlington, VA  eventually managing a multi-discipline A/E team supporting U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Department of State (DOS) projects. As a contractor on the DOS Overseas Building Operations (OBO) Green Team, Stanton helped OBO usher in the adoption of LEED certification as an embassy design parameter and developed the Water Efficiency chapter of OBO’s first Green Guide to Embassies. Stanton also led the mechanical engineering department for a 50-person Architecture & Engineering firm in Alexandria, VA. There his work focused on HVAC and Plumbing system design for federal government, corporate, and mixed-use residential projects ranging in construction cost from $100k – 25M.
