George Mason University | Exploratory Hall Science
The Exploratory Hall Science Building is located on George Mason University’s Fairfax campus. The existing 5-story building will be renovated and updated to accommodate College of Science academic departments, computational and dry laboratories, and university classrooms.
Integral Group provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services for the existing 100,600 ft², 5-story Science + Technology II building and a new addition of 55,000 ft² for the College of Science (COS). The 55,000 ft² addition will mainly house class laboratories for the Biology, Atmospheric, Oceanic, and Earth Sciences and the Environmental Science and Policy Departments. The building uses innovative, sustainable design strategies to achieve a 50% reduction in energy usage. The new Exploratory Hall Science Building will include a new rooftop greenhouse, while the remaining green roof will be used for educational and environmental purposes.
