James Cook University | Technology and Innovation Complex
The Technology and Innovation Complex (TIC) at James Cook University (JCU) is an investment in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in North Queensland. It is designed to perform and innovate at a national and international level, actively contributing to the transformation and growth of the Northern Queensland economy.
The new facility will see the engineering, physical sciences, and information technology disciplines accommodated in a state-of-the-art complex. The new facility is targeting a LEED Gold rating and includes microgrid technology incorporating including rooftop solar array and standby generator.
TIC will be vital to training the next generation of engineers and STEM-focused entrepreneurs. Included within the building are the Ideas Market, an urban center with a mix of uses, supporting students, researchers, workers, residents, and visitors. The Technology and Innovation Complex is a precinct that conveys the aspirations of JCU to support the next generation of thinkers and leaders from all over the world.
