Morgan Hill Aquatics Complex
Designed with integrated green building concepts, this is the first aquatics complex certified LEED Silver rated by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). The energy-efficient design includes optimized energy performance for HVAC and lighting, passive ventilation for summertime cooling of the locker and shower area, and a 57% reduction in water use for site irrigation. In addition, recycled content building materials were used, and low VOC-emitting materials with improved Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) performance were specified.
The project received a Citation in the Savings by Design Energy Efficiency Integration Awards from the AIA California Council and California’s four largest utility companies. “The sensitivity to the environmental aspects is a model of what today’s projects should aspire to.” – jury comment, Innovative Architecture and Design Award, Recreation Management Magazine.
