Park Lane Primary School
The project involved the expansion of Park Lane Primary School from a one-form entry to a two-form entry by remodeling the existing building and extending the school by providing a new build extension. The new extension includes a nursery, main hall, library, teaching, and admin areas. Phasing was carefully considered with the new sections connecting back into existing buildings, keeping such buildings fed and fully usable during the works.
Elementa Consulting provided mechanical, electrical, and public health design for the project. This includes hot and cold water, heating, ventilation, energy, security and data, public health, and low-energy lighting design. The scope for sustainability was to provide BREEAM Very Good and a 15% reduction in CO₂ from Low Carbon Technologies.
This was achieved by producing a dynamic thermal model to optimize the heating and ventilation and analyze renewable technology options. The final solution consisted of an air source heat pump to supply underfloor heating supplemented by roof-mounted photovoltaic panels.
